Zumtobel Groupand its lighting brands Thorn and Zumtobel Lighting has helped to deliver the perfect learning environment for Riverbank Primary School in Dalmarnock, Glasgow.
The lighting solution for the project uses a wide variety of luminaires that incorporate the most energy e๏ฌcient and sustainable technology available.
Built to augment ongoing regeneration in the area, the new Riverbank Primary School has 14 classrooms, assembly and gym halls; drama and nurture rooms, administrative and o๏ฌce spaces as well as a library. The school has been conceived as two elements namely a brick-clad classroom block and double height metal-clad multi-purpose hall with a small clock tower signifying the main entrance square at the junction of these two halves.
Thornโs OMEGA LED, with its slim pro๏ฌle, are installed in the classrooms providing excellent glare control (UGR<19/22). The luminaire which uses 4000K LED and has 50000 hours of life, keeps maintenance costs to a minimum. With its elegant design, IQ WAVE illuminates the o๏ฌces delivering the ideal light distribution helping to support comfort and alertness.
Zumtobelโs CRAFT LED high bay luminaires, with an innovative lens optic ensure a highly e๏ฌcient light distribution and glare control (UGR 22), in the sports halls and the dining hall. CRAFT produces a pleasant lighting atmosphere that helps enhance the safety and wellbeing of those using the space, whilst the optimised thermal management and a protection rating of IP65 ensure a long product lifetime.
GLACIER from Thorn, a very high performance (76-107 Llm/W) decorative luminaire, illuminates the entrance area, providing excellent lighting quality in an attractive, pendant ๏ฌtting. GLACIER o๏ฌers an e๏ฌcient alternative to traditional HID pendants with energy savings of over 27% and dimming options to further enhance energy saving opportunities.
The ๏ฌoodlighting of the onsite MUGA Pitch presented problems because of the close proximity of nearby housing. Thorn provided the perfect solution by lighting the pitch from one side using Champion HQI high performance asymmetrical ๏ฌoodlights.
Thornโs CHALICE Recessed ๏ฌttings illuminate the corridors and toilets. CHALICE has a high e๏ฌcacy of 106lm/W and is extremely e๏ฌcient thanks to its low energy consumption. CHALICE has an overall height of less than 100mm making it ideal for low ceiling depth. OMEGA C LED has also been utilised in these areas for good uniformity and adjustable mounting options for through-life ๏ฌexibility.
