Searchlight Electric is celebrating its 70th anniversary as a supplier of decorative lighting to specialist lighting retailers, multi-national chains and distributor partners across the world.
In 1945, Captain Sidney Hamburger started Searchlight immediately after being discharged from the army, as a one-man wholesale electric business in a tiny office in the cellar of 1B Cooper Street, Salford.
In 2015, Searchlight remains a privately owned business, now in the third generation of the Hamburger family, and operating from a purpose built head office in Manchester, with a state of the art distribution centre and one of the largest product showrooms in Europe.
“The 70 year anniversary is a tremendous milestone for Searchlight as we look back on our wonderful heritage and accomplishments,” says Herzl Hamburger, Chairman.
“A key element of Searchlight’s success, and one that I am immensely proud of, is our long and enduring relationship with customers, suppliers and our employees. Many of our employees have been with the company for over 30 years and deliver incredible service to our customers.”
Searchlight is now a key supplier to many of the household names in the UK and abroad.
