Unemployed people in Glasgow are being helped back into work thanks to an ongoing partnership between a local electrical wholesale and trade supplier, and a national support organisation.
The Stax Trade Centres warehouse branch on the Queenslie Industrial Estate now employs four full time workers who have all been able to find their way back into employment, thanks to the joint efforts of Stax Trade Centres and Working Links.
โWe have been involved with Working Links for over two years now and the partnership has brought benefits for everyone involved,โ explains Gary Anderson of Stax Trade Centres. โWe have been able to provide work experience for a number of people via Working Links, and four of them have gone on to gain permanent roles working in our packing and administration departments.
โWorking Links does a great job in helping unemployed local people find their way back to the world of work, and weโre delighted to play our part in that process. The vast majority of our 89 employees live within three miles of the store, so we feel itโs especially important that we do our bit to help the local community. Through Working Links weโve really benefited by finding local people who are ready to work and keen to take the opportunities we can offer them.โ
Working Links are a leading provider of tailored services which help people maximise their potential. The organisation has helped many people improve their lives, and their involvement with companies such as Stax Trade Centres is an essential element in their work.
โWe really value the opportunities which a company like Stax Trade Centres can offer to our clients,โ adds Bob Taylor of Working Links. โBy working together in this way, we can make a real contribution and help create positive outcomes for people in the Glasgow area.โ
The 80,000sq ft Stax Trade Centres branch now employs 89 staff and offers household, garden, electrical, decorating, plumbing and building material lines to its customers. It also has dedicated kitchen and bathroom showrooms.
