Schneider comments on importance of apprentices

Schneider Electric has longstanding support for Electrical students, and continues to be a leading sponsor for SPARKS’ Learner of the Year Award, which is taking place at the Schneider Electric Innovation Hub in Coventry this year (23-April).

David Williams, VP Transactional Business at Schneider Electric, highlights the value of apprenticeships in eradicating the skills gap and nurturing the next generation of electrical workers to drive innovation and achieve net zero:

“At Schneider Electric, we’re thrilled to continue our support of the ‘SPARKS Learner of the Year’ programme. We’re proud to be one of the leading sponsors, supporting the diversity of apprenticeships and electrician roles in the UK.

“Our research shows 247,000 jobs can be created in the UK by adopting clean energy technologies, creating huge potential for the green economy. However, as it stands, there are more job vacancies than skilled workers to fill them and apprenticeship schemes will be key in solving this.

“We must nurture the next generation of workers and close the skills gap and transform technology and electrical industries in the UK. With unique, boots-on-the-ground training, candidates can quickly develop technical skills that will ground their role at the forefront of the energy transition.

“At Schneider Electric for example, we pride ourselves in our diverse apprenticeship programme, which is growing every year. We have clear workforce plans in place for our apprentices to become qualified within five years, having gained a wealth of technical experience and confidence.”
