Electrical wholesaler opens eighth branch
South West independent electrical wholesaler, Devondale Electrical, has opened a new branch in Paignton which began trading from Torbay Business Park in May.
Managing Director Paul Wood decided to take the plunge after driving through the area to check out recent developments.
He said: “I was brought up in Torquay and have taken a keen interest in all the positive progress over recent years, with new housing, factories and South Devon College, as well as businesses like Sutton Seeds moving into the area.
“With major regeneration occurring in South Devon, it seemed an ideal time to open another branch here.”
Three new full time jobs have been created, with potential apprentice positions up for grabs once the branch is established. Devondale currently has six apprentices across its branch network and the new Paignton Branch Manager Ryan Peryer first joined Devondale as an apprentice after leaving the Royal Navy.
Ryan said: “This just goes to show how an apprenticeship can lead on to real career opportunities. I’m really looking forward to developments over the coming months.”
The floor area of new premises totals approximately 335sq m, offering good storage facilities for the many thousands of products kept in stock, with daily inter-branch deliveries boosting product availability.
The new branch means that Devondale now has a trio of branches in South Devon. With Newton Abbot and Torquay already established, the wholesale company serves not just professional electricians and contractors in the region, but also members of the public needing smaller quantities of electrical products.
The new branch brings the total number of Devondale branches to eight including Exeter, Sowton, Barnstaple, Taunton and Glastonbury.
