The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) has announced two exciting Challenge for a Cause events for 2027, giving people across the electrical and energy industries the opportunity to push themselves physically while raising vital funds for industry colleagues in need.

Those interested have the option to take on a spectacular coastal trek along England’s Jurassic Coast, or an unforgettable overseas expedition to the summit of Mount Toubkal in Morocco.

Jurassic Coast Challenge

Taking place on Friday 7 May 2027, the Jurassic Coast Challenge is a 20km (12-mile) trek through one of the UK’s most iconic coastal landscapes.

Starting in Weymouth, participants will follow breathtaking clifftop paths towards White Nothe before taking in spectacular views of Rinstead Bay, the Durdle Door and St Oswald’s Bay, finishing at the world-famous Lulworth Cove.

The hike will take approximately five hours to complete and is suitable for those looking for a moderately challenging adventure while enjoying one of Britain’s most celebrated coastlines.

Participants are encouraged to bring family and friends along, making a weekend of it while supporting a vital cause.

Mount Toubkal Challenge

For those seeking a bigger test, the EIC will be heading to Morocco from 30 September to 4 October 2027 for a five-day expedition to the summit of Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain at 4,167 metres.

Guided by experienced expedition leaders, participants will trek through the High Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages and dramatic mountain scenery before reaching the summit and taking in panoramic views across the region.

The challenge involves between six and twelve hours of walking per day across moderate to challenging terrain and offers a unique opportunity to step outside your comfort zone while supporting an important cause.

Running from Thursday to Monday, the challenge offers an incredible overseas adventure with minimal time away from work.

Support Your Industry Colleagues

Funds raised through both challenges will help the EIC continue providing practical, financial and emotional support to people working within the electrical and energy sectors, including mental health support, financial assistance, bereavement services, legal guidance and a range of other essential resources.

Whether participants choose the stunning coastline of Dorset or the heights of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, every step taken and every pound raised will help ensure support remains available for industry people and their families when they need it most.
