Aico welcomes new team of Scottish Specification Managers

The UK’s market leader in domestic mains powered Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms, Aico, has announced a new team of Regional Specification Managers (RSMs) covering Scotland: Krys Wallace RSM for Scotland North; Tony Boyle RSM for Scotland West; and David Richmond RSM for Scotland East.

Aico RSMs provide national coverage and support for Registered Social Landlords, and Electrical Contractors working for them. RSMs also deliver Aico’s CPD accredited Expert Installer training, a free of charge modular training scheme designed to ensure everyone involved in domestic alarm specification and installation has all the information they need.

The team of Scottish RSMs have a diverse background but all bring relevant experience and bags of enthusiasm to their roles.

For the past ten years Tony Boyle, now Aico RSM for Scotland West, has been an electrician with first-hand experience of fitting Aico products. With a desire to use his extensive knowledge but in a different capacity, the role of an RSM was ideal for Tony: “I’ve been fitting Aico alarms for years and have always been impressed by the quality of the product, so feel very confident talking about it. There’s a lot to learn in this new role though and I’m building relationships with Aico’s customer base, which is widespread; I have over 70 social landlords to meet, but I’ve made a good start. Every day is different and brings new challenges, which I really enjoy.”

Krys Wallace’s extensive experience in supporting the specification process and in Social Housing made him an ideal choice to be an Aico RSM. The first ten years of Krys’ career was in ventilation before moving to a construction company working in Social Housing. “In my latter job I used to buy Aico products. I was fully aware of how good it was. I never had an issue with an Aico alarm – not a single call back in the 500-600 properties we fitted them in. When Aico approached me for this job, the product quality was important but what really swung it for me was the staff.  There are many Aico staff who have worked there for over 20 years! The support they provide is excellent. I am thrilled to work for such a well-respected company.” Krys is also a qualified electrician.

David Richmond has over 16 years’ experience in the fire industry, having worked for, amongst others, commercial fire company Tyco Fire in senior management since 2006. David likes the level of independence afforded by the RSM role: “I appreciate the chance to manage my own time and workload. It’s a very customer driven business and I have spent my first months getting an intensive introduction to those customers and appraising how best I can support them. I’ve also been given precious time with back office support, who do an incredible job.”

These latest appointments come as part of an expansion and restructuring of the RSM team nationwide. Aico now boasts 18 RSMs covering the entire UK, to provide customers with even greater support in specification.
