Electrotechnical firms in the area could benefit. By James Hunt:

Constructionline, said to be the UK’s leading procurement and supply chain management service, claims that ‘as many as 350 buyers and 4,000 suppliers registered with the organisation are based within the M25. ‘Now’, says Constructionline, ‘opportunities for both are picking up in what has been dubbed the ‘London Bubble’.

But there’s much more to the business than just the London area and the South East, as there are many business opportunities elsewhere in the UK. This is typified by Midlands firms being invited to a free ‘Meet the Buyer’ event run by Constructionline. To be held on 10th of December at Leicester City Football Club, this event is aimed at helping these firms find out about upcoming work in their areas and beyond.

At the event, confirmed buyers from the public sector will include Harborough District Council and representatives from the NHS London Procurement Partnership, who will be delivering a talk about its current work opportunities. Other exhibitors will include major contractors Mears and Farrans Construction, Management Cubed, Derwent Facilities Management, and the Torsion Group, which specialises in student accommodation.

A fantastic chance

Commented Tim Probert, client relationship manager at Constructionline: “This will be a fantastic chance for small firms across the East Midlands to discover how they can bid for upcoming work across many different projects in their area.

“It will be a valuable networking opportunity and provide a chance for our clients to strengthen their local supply chains. We’re looking forward to advising attendees on how we can aid them in gaining better access to work,” he concluded.

This was echoed by the corporate asset manager for Harborough District Council, Mark Perris, who said: “We’ve a strong desire to support the local economy through building a strong supply chain here in the East Midlands, which makes events such as this so important for bringing together buyers and contractors to explore mutually beneficial opportunities in the region.”

The organisation’s events programme has seen, it says, over 7,400 contractors and 500 clients attend since 2013, and this free event will run from 8.30am until 2pm. Suppliers do not have to be a Constructionline member to attend – and can, of course, be from the electrotechnical sector.
