{"id":9403,"date":"2015-11-24T15:07:06","date_gmt":"2015-11-24T15:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/?p=9403"},"modified":"2015-11-24T15:07:06","modified_gmt":"2015-11-24T15:07:06","slug":"powerball-is-a-huge-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/index.php\/powerball-is-a-huge-success\/","title":{"rendered":"PowerBall is a huge success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><i><\/i><\/b>The Electrical Industries Charity is delighted to announce that PowerBall, the industry\u2019s biggest party of the year, was a massive success raising \u00a3236,000.<\/p>\n<p>More than\u00a01,000 guests enjoyed a night of glittering entertainment which included some of the best music from the Motown era. The headline entertainment, Dancing in the Streets, took guests on a journey through the incredible sound of Motown including music by artists such as The Supremes, James Brown and Stevie Wonder.<\/p>\n<p>The special guest was 23-year-old, Brendan Mosley, who was in need of additional funding to attend university and fulfil his dream of becoming an engineer. Brendan is now studying for his engineering degree at Huddersfield University and the charity was able to help him by giving him a grant of \u00a3500 each term for books and supplies.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at this year\u2019s PowerBall, Brendan said: \u201cIt\u2019s very difficult to fund your own degree and I am very thankful for the help that I received from the Charity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The charity&#8217;s Managing Director, Tessa Ogle said: \u201cPowerBall is an opportunity for our industry to come together and support each other in times of difficulty. Brendan is one of the many people who have benefited from the help and support of the charity and we are so pleased we were able to help him achieve his dreams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year the amount of money which we raise at PowerBall continues to surpass our expectations and I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and took part in the many fundraising activities on the night \u2013 without you the help and support which we gave to Brendan would not be possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PowerBall will take place next year on Friday, 11th November at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricalcharity.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.electricalcharity.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Electrical Industries Charity is delighted to announce that PowerBall, the industry\u2019s biggest party of the year, was a massive success raising \u00a3236,000.
