The business understands that it must sustain these high standards if its customers are to continue to stock and ultimately co-market the product range with confidence.

Further investment by the North Wales firm was essential for Marco to maintain its ongoing growth programme that sees more and more customers committed to stocking its products for an ever-growing customer base.

Brian Pigott, Director and General Manager at Marco Cable Management said: “The wholesaler channel is our route to market and without them, the Marco business would not exist.

“As they increase their stock levels of our product and help drive forward the Marco message, we must ensure that we have the necessary resources and processes to at least maintain, and then stay one step ahead, of the growing demand.

“This recent investment undoubtedly allows us to do this, significantly ramping up production using the latest in sophisticated manufacturing technology.”

Made-to-order manufacturing

The improved processes will allow a move towards made-to-order manufacturing, combined with rapid turnaround times. The new infrastructure is highly automated, to maintain quality and enhance production volumes, whilst reducing power requirements by using medium frequency technology in the welding process.

Brian added: “Output will be dramatically increased and this move will also allow us to maintain and further improve our control quality systems far more effectively. Today we are involved in some of the biggest projects within the UK. Our presence across the UK is growing continuously. We have seen our products installed at some of the most important new builds that are forming part of the London landscape.

“In Scotland, the Marco brand is also growing as, with a strong sales team in place, we are now a leading force in cable management throughout Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

Marco has forged alliances, partnerships and supply arrangements with several of the UK’s leading contractors, whilst more and more large-scale wholesalers and many independent distributors are now stocking our products. We recently took our largest single order to date which was a fantastic achievement.”

Customer service

Brian continued: “We are always looking at ways in which we can improve and enhance our product offer. Alongside the capital investment, we are now looking at how we work, and, where we work; asking what we can do better and what value will this add; for us, for our customers and for our end-users.

Customer service is critical for Marco and the firm is continually exploring new ways of supporting the end user through information, instructions and guides, be it through hard copy marketing, website information, downloadable content or podcasts.

Marco understands that installers will continue to have different ways of working and operating, and is keen to ensure that it is able to offer support in the best way that suits them.

Personal relationships with wholesalers, specifiers and contractors cannot be undervalued and Marco’s sales team now fulfil a complete geographical spread, enabling all customers to have a representative on its doorstep. The team is growing in strength and numbers and Marco is recruiting experienced sales managers whose understanding of the industry, its needs and the challenges it faces, remain unrivalled.

Brian concluded: “Ultimately, every aspect of the Marco business focuses on the future – what will the client needs next year or the following year? Our in-house experts look at current and future legislation, as well as changing market trends, including new ways of building and installing. We look at what we can add to this and what role we play. In 2015 Marco is taking the next step in its evolution, and there is much more to come.”

www.marcocm.com

Having recently invested £2million in its Steel Wire Cable Tray manufacturing operation, Marco now has the infrastructure in place to take its business to the next level, providing a more streamlined service to its wholesaler customers.
