<\/a><\/p>\nVickers Laboratories Ltd is a chemical manufacturing facility with world-renowned film, TV and theatre production companies among its clients.<\/p>\n
The company created the chocolate river in Tim Burton\u2019s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Johnny Depp, and the \u201cewe\u2019s milk bath\u201d for Charlize Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman.<\/p>\n
The Leeds based chemical manufacturer has also provided goo and gunge for films and TV series\u2019 such as Clash of the Titans, Sweeny Todd, Emmerdale and Doctor Who.<\/p>\n
But with increased demand for their products, lab bosses needed to expand with a purpose-built manufacturing facility adjacent to the existing site. High quality light uniformity and high colour rendering was a key consideration for the new lab.<\/p>\n
MHA Lighting installed its LightStar202 LED luminaires, reducing overall lighting energy consumption in the area, providing a lifetime saving of \u00a38,333 and a 22 tonne reduction in Co2.<\/p>\n
At the same time Lux levels in the lab were improved, with the LightStar product delivering 500 lux to the equipment and work spaces.<\/p>\n
MHA Lighting MD Tom Harrison said: \u201cIt has been a pleasure to work alongside the Vickers team in devising a \u2018made-to-measure\u2019 lighting scheme for their brand new laboratory.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steve Foster, Vickers Laboratories Ltd\u2019s MD, said switching to LED lighting was part of the company\u2019s strategy to improve light levels in their labs while reducing associated energy costs and CO2.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cWe knew that we needed to source lighting that would not only cut our lighting costs, provide a short payback period and offer long-term energy savings but also wasn\u2019t over-the-top on capital cost.<\/p>\n
