National, regional and local health, educational and children’s charities are the main recipients of financial support.

Marshall-Tufflex Chief Executive Officer Paul Hetherington described the ‘sheer generosity of spirit’ of the company founders as ‘spectacular’. “A sizeable percentage of company dividends go to the Charitable Trust, allowing it to support a wide range of organisations,” he said. “Nationally we have recently assisted the Children with Cancer UK charity, the Ben McNicol Trust and Hounds for Heroes. Overseas donations have boosted Rotary’s ‘Wheelchair Foundation’ fundraising. And closer to home we continue to support the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, including a recent pledge of £10,000 for new equipment.

“We trade internationally but are not a global business; every time a Marshall-Tufflex product is sold it supports our workforce and a charity benefits. We therefore have to thank our customers throughout the supply chain for their continued support.”

Staff at Marshall-Tufflex are also great charity supporters, with a number of fundraising events run through the year to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, Age UK, Comic Relief and hospices.

Indeed, receptionist Teresa Plass, who set up the company’s ‘Santa Sacks’ appeal to provide gifts for children in Hasting’s Conquest Hospital over Christmas, appeared on national television thanks to her charity efforts.

“Our employees at Marshall-Tufflex really embody the spirit of giving and it has become ingrained within our organisation,” said Mr Hetherington.

Hastings-based Marshall-Tufflex, which manufactures and supplies cable and energy management products, has donated almost half a million pounds to charity over the last five years.
