The white paper is available for free download from www.eaton.eu/whitepaper

With the widespread adoption of virtualised environments and modern IT architectures, such as converged infrastructure, computing capacity is now a wholly dynamic game in which workloads, applications and storage are moved around both within and among data centres as business needs dictate.

This, combined with the increasing importance placed on information, and the use of cloud-based solutions and co-located data centres, means there is a heightened need for data centres to be agile enough to cope.

Eaton’s white paper addresses and offers solutions to meet these needs through effective selection and use of PDUs with a key focus on efficient operation. It also looks at how, through the use of the next generation of advanced rack PDUs, data centres are able to address their most pressing operational needs, such as cooling costs, administrative costs and easing the installation process.

The paper concludes that in order to ensure peak operating efficiency – an absolute necessity given modern business demands – data centres must monitor and manage power distribution at a granular level. It also advises businesses that they should develop their power strategy by understanding the current rack environment and workload demands, followed by choosing an optimised rack PDU and then backing up the system with a UPS enabled with power management software.

www.eaton.eu/powerquality

Power management company Eaton has published a new white paper that explores best practices for businesses when selecting rack power distribution units (PDUs) for their IT environment.
