Electrical Safety First will be hosting a roundtable on product safety, recalls and traceability, on Tuesday, 9th September, at Church House, Westminster.<\/p>\n
The roundtable \u2013 a prelude to Electrical Safety First\u2019s established Product Safety Conference, which takes place on November 12th \u2013 attracts senior representatives from electrical manufacturers and retailers, as well as delegates from government, trade bodies and related organisations.<\/p>\n
Discussions will have an in-depth focus on recall notices \u2013 their design, placement and consumers\u2019 reaction to them \u2013 as well as methods for improving traceability.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt our last roundtable, delegates raised concerns around consumer behaviour and how to get members of the public to act on a recall notice,\u201d explains Phil Buckle, Director General of Electrical Safety First.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have since commissioned detailed consumer research, which aims to help set out the best format and channels for recall notices and to help manufacturers and retailers understand key motivators for consumers to act.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur previous research has shown that almost two million adults have knowingly ignored a recalled electrical item. Given our campaigning expertise, we are ideally placed to take the lead on this issue but for improvements to occur, we need the support and input of the entire electrical supply chain.
