As I write this, the EW Awards team is making the final preparations for the EW Awards, which will take place at the beautiful Chelsea Harbour Hotel on 24 September. By the time you are reading this, the event will be over, and the deserving winners for 2026 will have been recognised in front of an audience of their industry peers. The list of winning wholesalers, suppliers and manufacturers will be online at www.electricalwholesalerwards.co.uk, and a full write-up of the event with a photo gallery will be featured in the November issue.

On to the issue. There is something of a solar energy focus in this issue – ironically, considering we are well on our way into Autumn and the sun is showing its face less and less frequently as the year goes on. However, as the temperatures begin to drop, the efficiency and affordability of how we heat our homes becomes an increasingly relevant topic of discussion.

As the UK prepares for the Future Homes Standard, low-carbon technologies are becoming increasingly central to how we heat and power our homes. Solar, heat pumps, EV charging and battery storage are creating homes with the potential to be highly intelligent and flexible.

According to Passiv UK’s Ian Rose, effective data monitoring is central to ensuring that heat pumps perform as efficiently in practice as they do on paper. “Installing these systems is only half the challenge,” he says. “The real test is whether they continue to perform as intended once the home is occupied.”

Elsewhere in the issue, Levelise’s Iván Castro makes a strong case for the smart future of the domestic renewables sector. Read more on page 28.

Plus, as always, we share our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector.

Enjoy the issue!
