Today, the group employs around\u202f1,200 people globally\u202fand operates across\u202ftwo strategic divisions, bringing together\u202feight North East businesses, including\u202fMichell Bearings (South Shields), BEL Engineering (Newcastle)\u202fand\u202fCMP Products (Cramlington).<\/p>\n<p>For its 2026 intake, British Engines has\u202f20 apprenticeship vacancies\u202favailable across a range of disciplines, including Engineering Support Technician, Machining, Maintenance, Engineering Fitter, Purchasing, and Metal Fabrication.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is designed for individuals aged\u202f16 and above\u202fwho are motivated, curious, and eager to learn, whether they are leaving school, college, or looking for an alternative route into engineering. British Engines is seeking apprentices who are keen to develop practical skills, embrace new technologies, and build long-term careers within the business.<\/p>\n<p>Apprenticeships remain central to British Engines\u2019 success, helping to\u202ffutureproof critical skills, drive productivity, and support innovation across the group. Many of the company\u2019s senior leaders and technical specialists began their careers as apprentices, underlining the programme\u2019s impact on long-term business growth.<\/p>\n<p>All apprentices who completed their training in the most recent cohort were offered\u202fpermanent roles, reflecting the group\u2019s focus on retaining and developing talent from within.<\/p>\n<p>British Engines has supported\u202fover 1,000 apprentices since 1966, and continues to invest heavily in structured learning, modern facilities, and digital training tools. Apprentices gain hands-on experience while following clear development pathways across the group\u2019s North East businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Myers,\u202fLearning and Development Business Partner and Head of Apprenticeships at British Engines, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur apprenticeship programme continues to go from strength to strength and is truly the lifeblood of the business. While we\u2019ve supported more than 1,000 apprentices over the years, we\u2019re always evolving to ensure our training reflects the skills our business and industry need for the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year we received a record\u202f490 applications, and we expect interest to be just as high again from young people looking to earn while they learn and build a fulfilling, long-term career in engineering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jac Gardner,\u202fChief People Officer at British Engines, added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApprenticeships are critical to our ongoing growth.
