{"id":23723,"date":"2025-11-18T09:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T09:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/?p=23723"},"modified":"2025-11-17T11:27:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T11:27:29","slug":"electrical-contractors-in-north-wales-offered-50-funded-low-carbon-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/index.php\/electrical-contractors-in-north-wales-offered-50-funded-low-carbon-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Electrical contractors in North Wales offered 50% funded low-carbon training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electrical contractors across North Wales now have the opportunity to futureproof their businesses with 50% funded training in electric vehicle (EV) charging, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and battery storage technologies through the Welsh Government\u2019s Flexible Skills Programme (FSP).<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is led by the Electrical Contractors\u2019 Association (ECA) and delivered by NICEIC, the UK\u2019s leading certification and training body for the electrical contracting industry. It\u2019s designed to help businesses diversify their services, futureproof their workforce, and stay compliant with upcoming regulatory changes.<\/p>\n<p>From October 2026, new Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) rules will require electricians and qualified supervisors (QSs) working on EV charging, solar PV, or battery storage installations to hold specific Level 3 qualifications. This training offer provides a cost-effective route to compliance while enabling businesses to expand their services and improve customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>Courses will be delivered during January and March 2026, at Vulcana Training in Wrexham. They will include:<\/p>\n<p>Installation of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Level 3 Award<br \/>\nInstallation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points, Level 3 Award<br \/>\nDesign, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS), Level 3 Award<\/p>\n<p>All qualifications are aligned with the Electrician Plus model and recognised by MCS and NICEIC.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Robinson, Head of Training at NICEIC, said: \u201cWith regulatory changes on the horizon and demand for low-carbon technologies growing fast, contractors are looking to access high-quality training to support their business\u2019s growth. We are delighted to deliver this programme in partnership with ECA through the Welsh Government\u2019s Flexible Skills Programme, helping businesses stay competitive, compliant, and confident about taking on new opportunities in renewable technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Businesses must apply individually and complete their training by 31 March 2026.
