Three finalists have made it to the last stage of the 50th anniversary ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award.<\/p>\n
They are:<\/p>\n
Ewan Forsythe – Michael Nugent (ES) Ltd
\nGary Hall – Dalkia Engineering Ltd
\nJack Hawkins – Camelot Electrical Ltd
\nThe judging panel met with the shortlisted candidates at ECA\u2019s (Electrical Contractors\u2019 Association) offices in London.<\/p>\n
They looked for passion for learning and development; awareness of issues and challenges in the industry and a vision for the future; commitment to the industry and the ECA Member business they work for; and good communication skills.<\/p>\n
Nominees have the chance to win rewards including \u00a33,000, an overseas study trip to Austria and state of the art toolkit to begin their electrical engineering careers.<\/p>\n
The winner\u2019s ECA Member employer also has the chance to win a one-year BSI subscription (for businesses with a turnover below \u00a36.5 million), and a one-year Electrical OM Licence worth more than \u00a3300.<\/p>\n
The two runners-up apprentices and their ECA employers will also be rewarded.<\/p>\n
Carolyn Mason, Strategic Skills Adviser at ECA, said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe calibre of those that were interviewed by the judging panel was extremely high. Each had qualities worthy of taking home the award.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe three finalists absolutely hold the qualities and tenacity that we were looking for and we look forward to announcing the winner of our golden anniversary award soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
In this golden anniversary year, ECA and Edmundson Electrical recognises exceptionally talented apprentices from ECA Member businesses.<\/p>\n
Apprentices are important role models in the construction industry by encouraging others to make electrical engineering a career through apprenticeship schemes. Apprentices and ECA Members also help the UK to ensure it has the skilled workforce to support future demand, including for the low carbon transition.<\/p>\n
The winner will be announced at an awards luncheon to be held on Tuesday 16 September at The Royal Society in London.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
