Credit: Job GmbH<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s winners, Connected Innovations, offered another way of dealing with potential fires, this time from their smart socket device. The sockets, backed by a core safety and communications system which monitors a range of external factors, have the ability to switch off appliances if it detected a buildup of heat in the plugs and nearby wiring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a great honour to win the Safety Innovation Award which provided us a platform to showcase our sockets and exposed us to some of the leading voices in the industry\u201d, commented Anthony Parfitt, CEO and Founder of Connected Innovations. \u201cIt was validation for all our hard work as we change the landscape of fire safety. Our award-winning sockets will not only be the smartest but also the safest and will reduce electrical fires in all types of buildings on a global scale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for entries to the Award is Thursday the 31st of August. The winner will be announced at Electrical Safety First\u2019s annual product safety conference, where they will have a platform to discuss their innovation with the audience.<\/p>\n<p>Media coverage, tailored newsletters, social media and online activity showcasing the innovation will be offered, as well as a half day of coaching from Electrical Safety First\u2019s highly respected Technical Team \u2013 explaining everything you need to know to deliver your idea or get your product to market.<\/p>\n<p>Information on the innovations being developed by all shortlisted applicants will be showcased at the conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are consistently impressed by the amazing innovations that our award highlights,\u201d commented Lesley Rudd, chief executive of Electrical Safety First. \u201cA great idea can come from anywhere and we are looking forward to seeing more award entries that make us reassess what is possible in the realm of product safety.
