The materials shortage has continued to be a problem for the UK trades for two years now. New research* found that more than three-quarters (78%) of tradespeople struggled to source the materials they\u2019ve needed in the last year.<\/p>\n
As a result, almost half (46%) have had to delay or turn down work, and nearly a fifth (19%) have been forced to let customers down after committing to jobs. Unfortunately, more than one in five (22%) respondents said that they can\u2019t see the shortage easing anytime soon, and that they believe problems will continue into 2023.<\/p>\n
There have, however, been signs of the situation easing slightly in recent weeks – so here\u2019s hoping the situation will continue to improve as the year goes on.<\/p>\n
On to the issue. We\u2019re celebrating not one, but two milestone anniversaries for key industry companies this month. On page 24, you can read a history of ESP\u2019s journey from humble beginnings in 1992 as a small provider of wireless intruder alarm systems, to becoming a leading UK manufacturer of electrical accessories and lighting products and a part of the Scolmore Group today.<\/p>\n
