{"id":13364,"date":"2018-09-20T13:49:50","date_gmt":"2018-09-20T13:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/?p=13364"},"modified":"2018-09-20T13:49:50","modified_gmt":"2018-09-20T13:49:50","slug":"opus-building-services-jack-wins-eca-edmundson-apprentice-of-the-year-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/index.php\/opus-building-services-jack-wins-eca-edmundson-apprentice-of-the-year-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Opus Building Services&#8217; Jack wins ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Jack Teasdale, 21, has been recognised as one of the country\u2019s leading electrotechnical and engineering services apprentices, after winning the coveted 2018 ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award during an awards ceremony held on September 19 in London.<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-13365\" src=\"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Web-image-500x333.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jack, who works for ECA member-firm Opus Building Services Ltd in Tyne and Wear, was trained by leading provider JTL.\u00a0 After overcoming fierce competition from two other finalists, Jack won prizes which include \u00a31,500 and a study tour to France sponsored by industry manufacturer Hager. He will also go on to be an ambassador for the electrotechnical industry over the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Apprentice of the Year Jack Teasdale of Opus Building Services Ltd said: \u201cIt\u2019s very humbling and a privilege to be recognised as ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year, and to be an ambassador for other apprentices. One of my mentors was himself the winner of this award in 1997, so it\u2019s an honour to follow in his footsteps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two runners-up, who each won \u00a3750 and a state-of-the-art toolkit, are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Niall Watson, Derry Building Services<\/li>\n<li>Conor McCarthy, Darke and Taylor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ECA CEO Steve Bratt commented: \u201cI\u2019m pleased to offer our congratulations to Jack Teasdale for deservedly winning this year\u2019s ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award. The quality of the three finalists this year is a real indication of the talent that exists in our industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpus Building Services and JTL deserve credit for the support they have given to Jack during his apprenticeship, and which has been a clear success.\u00a0 Congratulations also to Derry Building Services and Darke and Taylor, for presenting such able finalists, and supporting high quality training within our sector, which has clearly been a great success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edmundson Electrical Managing Director Mark Felber added: \u201cEdmundson is delighted to have sponsored the industry-leading ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award for the last 44 years.
