{"id":11276,"date":"2017-04-07T09:09:12","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T09:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/?p=11276"},"modified":"2017-04-07T09:09:12","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T09:09:12","slug":"aico-donates-alarms-to-scottish-veterans-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/index.php\/aico-donates-alarms-to-scottish-veterans-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Aico donates alarms to Scottish veterans charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11279\" src=\"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ewnews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/SVGCA-500x333.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h5>\n<h5>Aico has donated Heat and Multi-Sensor Fire Alarms to the Scottish Veterans&#8217; Garden City Association (SVGCA), a charity that has been housing disabled veterans in Scotland for over a century.<\/h5>\n<p>Operating as a private not for profit Scottish charitable landlord, SVGCA houses the greatest number of disabled veterans in the UK.\u00a0 It works closely with Scottish Local Authorities, Legion Scotland and the Army Personnel Recovery Centre to help those transitioning from the Armed Forces due to injury.\u00a0 It currently owns 642 houses\u00a0in 76 locations across\u00a0Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>In Dunfermline SVGCA owns eleven properties in a single street that had been fitted with Smoke Alarms to category LD3 Grade D protection (mains powered alarms with a battery back up, installed to cover escape routes). \u00a0Because of the nature of the tenants, many of whom are elderly and have reduced mobility, a higher level of protection is desirable.\u00a0 However, as a charity the SVGCA has to carefully manage and direct its resources.<\/p>\n<p>Moffat Electrical Projects, employed by the SVGCA, identified the need for increased fire protection and approached Aico to see if the company would consider donating alarms to bring the fire system up to category LD2 Grade D, which means more alarms per property to cover escape routes and high risk areas.\u00a0 Aico was more than happy to help and donated its latest Ei2110e Multi-Sensors and Heat Alarms, which were installed free of charge by Moffat in the living area and kitchen of each property.<\/p>\n<h5>Reducing false alarms<\/h5>\n<p>Aico\u2019s mains powered Multi-Sensor Fire Alarm, Ei2110e, contains two sensor types, optical and heat, using intelligent software to provide the best response to all fire types and reduces potential false alarms which can be distressing for occupants.<\/p>\n<p>All alarms in the property were interconnected by Moffat using Aico\u2019s award winning RadioLINK wireless alarm interconnection technology, ensuring the alarms are heard throughout the property.\u00a0 RadioLINK allows alarms in the property to communicate with each other using Radio Frequency (RF) signals rather than hard wiring.\u00a0 As Steven Simpson, Electrical Supervisor at Moffat Electrical Products explains: \u201cthis reduces the mess and disruption that can be caused when the alarms are being fitted\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Moffat Electrical Projects in Dunfermline has a well established relationship with Aico, having used Aico alarms for many years and being Expert Installer trained.\u00a0 Aico\u2019s industry recognised Expert Installer scheme provides the information and training necessary to achieve a successful and effective Smoke Alarm installation and has trained over 12,000 contractors to date.<\/p>\n<p>A wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics, Aico is the market leader in residential fire and CO protection in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aico has donated Heat and Multi-Sensor Fire Alarms to the Scottish Veterans&#8217; Garden City Association (SVGCA), a charity that has been housing disabled veterans in Scotland for over a century.
