Wieland Electric\u2019s popular Metalynx2 structured wiring system has been installed for\u00a0the distribution of all power and lighting throughout the newly refurbished Halley\u00a0House Primary School in Arcola Street, London, E8. The school, located in the\u00a0Metropole College\u2019s former building, was purchased by the Education Funding Agency\u00a0(EFA) to ensure the provision of more primary schools in the E8 area in the future.<\/p>\n
Wieland\u2019s Metalynx2 system was\u00a0specified by Etech Southern, who\u00a0designed and installed the complete\u00a0electrical infrastructure for the Halley
\nHouse Primary School project in\u00a0accordance with the EFA output\u00a0specification. The original college building\u00a0had a conventional lighting system which
\nwas stripped out in its entirety and replaced\u00a0with a DALI lighting control system\u00a0designed to comply with Part L of the\u00a0Building Regulations.<\/p>\n
The recent renovation was split into two\u00a0phases with the first phase incorporating the\u00a0kitchen, hall and office space on the ground floor,\u00a0along with classrooms on the third floor. The\u00a0second phase saw the completion of classrooms\u00a0on the first and second floors, along with the\u00a0development of outside areas. The Metalynx2\u00a0system allowed Etech Southern to maximise\u00a0productivity on-site as the product is already prewired\u00a0and pre-tested at Wieland\u2019s factory so,\u00a0when delivered to site, the system simply has to\u00a0be plugged together.<\/p>\n
The Metalynx2 system is totally\u00a0environmentally friendly as it arrives complete\u00a0and ready to install on-site with zero wastage.\u00a0Compared to traditional power installation\u00a0methods, the Metalynx2 system can reduce\u00a0connection time by 70%, which is critical when\u00a0working to strict project deadlines. Metalynx2\u00a0also makes it easier to reconfigure systems in the\u00a0future to accommodate changes in building\u00a0usage or layout, thus supporting compliance
\nwith the government\u2019s \u2018Soft Landings\u2019 concept.<\/p>\n
