Wieland Electric\u2019s popular Metalynx2 <\/sup>structured wiring system has been installed for the distribution of all power and lighting throughout the newly refurbished Halley House Primary School in Arcola Street, London, E8. The school, located in the Metropole College\u2019s former building, was purchased by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) to ensure the provision of more primary schools in the E8 area in the future.<\/h5>\n

Wieland\u2019s Metalynx2<\/sup> system was specified by Etech Southern, who designed and installed the complete electrical infrastructure for the Halley House Primary School project in accordance with the EFA output specification. The original college building had a conventional lighting system which was stripped out in its entirety and replaced with a DALI lighting control system designed to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations.<\/p>\n

The recent renovation was split into two phases with the first phase incorporating the kitchen, hall and office space on the ground floor, along with classrooms on the third floor. The second phase saw the completion of classrooms on the first and second floors, along with the development of outside areas. The Metalynx2<\/sup> system allowed Etech Southern to maximise productivity on-site as the product is already pre-wired and pre-tested at Wieland\u2019s factory so, when delivered to site, the system simply has to be plugged together.<\/p>\n

The Metalynx2<\/sup> system is totally environmentally friendly as it arrives complete and ready to install on-site with zero wastage. Compared to traditional power installation methods, the Metalynx2<\/sup> system can reduce connection time by 70%, which is critical when working to strict project deadlines. Metalynx2 <\/sup>also makes it easier to reconfigure systems in the future to accommodate changes in building usage or layout, thus supporting compliance with the government\u2019s \u2018Soft Landings\u2019 concept.<\/p>\n
