\"prysmian\"Prysmian\u2019s FP200 Gold cable has been installed in new addressable fire alarm systems, protecting several water treatment and desalination plants, located on St Mary\u2019s, the largest island of the Scilly Isles. The facilities are important for supplying drinking water to the local population of some 1800 people. Over 2,200 metres of 1.5mm2 FP200 Gold cable was used for the four projects undertaken by Fire Crest Fire Protection, the contractor responsible for the installation on St Mary\u2019s island.<\/p>\n

In addition to adhering to the demanding standards of cleanliness and hygiene required for this type of installation, there was also the added logistical step of transporting the cable via sea to the archipelago located 28 miles off the UK mainland.<\/p>\n

Adam Laud, Fire Crest Fire Protection\u2019s Project Manager, chose to specify Prysmian because of the critical nature of the water treatment plants. As the fire alarm system shuts down the plant as part of routine for a safety requirement, the cables needed to be robust enough to meet the most demanding of safety standards.
