Panduit has recently introduced the Wave-Ty line of stainless steel cable ties \u2013 designed for heat\u00a0trace installations and to provide an expected service life of 30 years or more.<\/p>\n

Available for pipe sizes ranging from 2 to 36 inches, the cable ties are more efficient for installing\u00a0heat trace cabling in many applications. Tests in industrial locations indicate that complete heat\u00a0trace installations can be achieved at two to three times faster than a traditional tie wire\u00a0installation method \u2013 leading to as much as a 33% reduction in total installed costs.<\/p>\n
The Panduit Wave-Ty cable ties have a wide and flat profile\u00a0that spreads the force across a wider cable surface and is\u00a0less likely to damage the mineral insulated electric heat\u00a0trace (MIEHT). A unique design provides space for\u00a0the heat trace cabling to move relative to the pipe\u00a0or structure\u2019s thermal extraction. The cable ties also\u00a0eliminate puncture and cutting hazards associated\u00a0with tie wires and banding.<\/p>\n
The accompanying cable tie tool helps ensure\u00a0uniform tension to keep the heat trace cabling\u00a0against the intended surface. This minimises the\u00a0chance that the heat trace cabling is bound too\u00a0tightly, which can lead to early failures and expensive repairs, or not\u00a0bound tightly enough, which can cause poor heat transfer.<\/p>\n
