Vent-Axia fan celebrates Golden Anniversary

Sussex-based Vent-Axiais leading the way in reliability with one of its Standard Range fans still going strong after more than 50 years.

Originally installed in 1967, the fan has been improving its household’s indoor air quality ever since, even moving house with its owners in 1973! It is this longevity and reliability that forms the backbone of Vent-Axia’s commitment to designing high quality fans that last.

Vent-Axia fans are also easily repairable. During its long life, this Standard Range fan has benefitted from Vent-Axia’s high quality spares department, requiring parts once in the 1990s and replacement housing recently. This all leads to further improved fan longevity and so reduced waste, helping lower environmental impact.

“Vent-Axia is committed to reducing waste. We are well established for making reliable energy efficient products that reduce energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. But now our fans go one step further,” explains Jenny Smith, Head of Marketing at Vent-Axia.

“By developing innovative modular products, that can be repaired rather than replaced should they develop a fault, we can make a real difference to ventilation’s environmental impact. But it’s not just newer products that are repairable. At Vent-Axia we’re well known for our spares department which has a wide range of products available allowing fans to be repaired whenever possible.”

In the past, manufacturers often recommended that faulty fans should be thrown away and replaced with new ones. Not only is this expensive when a fan has exceeded its warranty period, but a lot of unnecessary waste is sent to landfill. Vent-Axia has therefore tackled this issue head on and has designed fans, such as the Lo-Carbon Revive and Lo-Carbon PoziDry Compact Pro, which have individual modular components that can all be replaced separately.

Now, Vent-Axia is lowering its carbon footprint. In January 2013, the company reshored the balance of its domestic fan manufacturing from China back to the UK. Vent-Axia’s commitment to British manufacturing has seen the company invest further in UK logistics which has helped lower the embodied energy of products by reducing carbon emissions. A reduction in international shipping and flights has resulted in a saving of up to 15 Tonnes of CO² a year.
