Cleckheaton-based Status International (UK) Limited, the independent UK light bulb and accessories supplier, has acquired Sussex firm, Maxim Lamps.
The deal signals further growth for the family run business which is looking to increase its market share. Status operates from its head office in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, where it has a warehouse, distribution centre and in-house design studio that employs in excess of 65 members of staff.
In 2014 Status featured on the fastest growing profit stars list compiled by the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100.
Status is run by father and son, Peter and Nicholas McVeigh, who between them have over 80 years combined experience in the lighting industry and are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.
Maxim Lamps is based in Haywards Heath, Sussex and is a well established light bulb supplier that produced its first light bulb in 1879. The company has been run in the UK by the Poytner family since 1910.
Peter McVeigh, Chairman of Status said: โWe intend to retain the Maxim Lamps brand in certain categories. It is very much business as usual for existing Maxim Lamps customers during this period as we look to merge the two businesses.โ
