SCL Multi Tap Control Transformers from Switchtec

Switchtec’s new transformers offer greater flexibility to control panel manufacturers.

Available from specialist distributor Switchtec, the SCL TXS Series of Multi Tap Control Panel Transformers benefit from multi-tap primary and secondary voltages. The TXS offers greater flexibility to control panel manufacturers, reducing stockholding and increasing manufacturing efficiency.

Panel transformers are used to change the electrical supply voltage for various applications. They are essential components in power distribution systems, helping to step down AC voltages as needed to ensure the safe and efficient transfer of electrical power. These transformers are typically mounted in panels or enclosures, hence the name ‘panel transformers’.

The specifics of a panel transformer depend on its intended use, the voltage conversion required, load capacity, efficiency and various other factors. They play a crucial role in maintaining a stable and reliable power supply by regulating voltage levels to meet the needs of different electrical systems and equipment.

Multi-tap Industrial Control Transformers are designed to provide flexibility for stockists and their users whose equipment may need different supply voltages or manufacturer products with different supply voltages. By stocking multi-tap transformers, manufacturers only need to stock and purchase one transformer, rather than two or more, for each voltage required.

The SCL TXS Series of Transformers from Switchtec benefit from a Muti Tap Primary of 0-230/240-400-415-440V AC and Secondary taps of 0-12-24V AC. They have a primary earth screen for safety, so in case of a short circuit condition, the power is directed to earth rather than the secondary tap.

The TXS Transformers are available ex-stock from Switchtec and available in 50, 100, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400, 500, 630, 800 & 1000 VA Variants. Other sizes and voltages are available on request, with custom transformers available to meet specific applications. A DIN rail mounting adaptor is also available for the 50, 100 & 160VA transformers.

Manufactured in accordance with IEC EN 61558- 2-6 – UL1446, the TXS transformers are also CE- and UKCA-approved. The IP20 terminal connections are a Screw Down terminal, which provides good cable access and aid ease of wiring. The transformers are supplied with a separate screw-down earth terminal for secured earth connection, and are fully varnish-impregnated to protect against humidity. Their non-welded construction helps to dissipate heat and ensure cool operation.
