This Youth Skills Day, Kelly Becker, president UK & Ireland, Belgium & Netherlands at Schneider Electric, shared her thoughts on the importance of nurturing the next generation of industry workers for the green economy – particularly through apprenticeships which can provide a dynamic route to success.
She commented: “Nurturing the next generation of industry workers is essential for a sustainable future. Our research shows 247,000 jobs can be created in the UK by adopting clean energy technologies, but this will require ample talent and technical expertise.
“This Youth Skills Day serves as a reminder for businesses to consider different ways we can equip the next generation with skills vital to the rapidly growing green economy. One way is through apprenticeship programmes, which provide technical and interpersonal skills and the flexibility to shift roles based on business learning, allowing for quick progression.
“Green apprenticeships offer young people a dynamic and fulfilling route to success, supporting the UK’s push to electrify our homes, vehicles, and businesses as we move away from fossil fuels. As more young people seek organisations with strong ESG credentials, these programmes offer a vital platform to innovate and contribute to the future green economy.”
