Al Abdali Medical Centre is a multi-specialty hospital in Amman, Jordan. The building is powered by an 8.2 MW photovoltaic power plant, the largest solar plant in the world powering a single healthcare facility according to its developer at the time of writing. Luceco with partners MEMCO supplied a cost-effective energy efficient LED lighting solution for this state-of-the-art hospital.
The medical centre has a 200-bed facility and provides best practice patient-centred care as well as promoting research and education. It was considered that the and that as costs play a key role in the healthcare environment, estate maintenance and operating expenditure could be substantially reduced by introducing a highly efficient LED lighting design.
O๏ฌering an e๏ฌcacy up to 129 Llm/cW, Platinum LED Downlights were installed in communal areas, circulation spaces and corridors, o๏ฌer running cost savings of up to 80% when compared with traditionally lamped ๏ฌttings. Other luminaires in this downlighter family include the Platinum Surface Mount providing opportunity for creative lighting design where a recessed ceiling void is not available and the popular Platinum Mini.
The other principle luminaire installed was the IP65 rated Edgelit Framed LuxPanel installed in the medical procedure rooms. The 600×600 Edgelit panel features a TpB polycarbonate di๏ฌuser and is suitable for use in 15 or 24mm standard exposed grid ceilings delivering up to 115Llm/cW. Variations include ๏ฌxed output and dimmable drivers as well as being Luceco Wireless Lighting Controls compatible.
Al Abdali Medical Centre was founded by an investment group behind the Clemenceau Medical Centre in Beirut, a๏ฌliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International and bene๏ฌts from the knowledge and expertise of the Middle Eastโs ๏ฌnest medical professionals, and is considered to be the ๏ฌrst hospital in Jordan o๏ฌering patient-centred care.
