Luceco has delivered a comprehensive, fully integrated LED lighting and controls solution at 5 Journey Campus, a state-of-the-art life sciences hub in Cambridge.
In partnership with KRB Installations, the project demonstrates Luceco’s capability to design and deliver complex, specification-led lighting schemes across highly diverse environments, while meeting strict regulatory requirements and the architect’s aesthetic vision.
5 Journey Campus, a four-storey innovation workspace, underwent a major refurbishment, requiring a lighting solution capable of serving scientific laboratories, liquid nitrogen and gas stores, meeting and board rooms, breakout areas and a modern café.
The full project scope encompassed external, internal and emergency lighting, all integrated into Luceco’s Platform fully wireless lighting control system. Additionally, the client required separately metered energy monitoring to satisfy Part L of the Building Regulations, alongside full remote emergency monitoring capability, delivering both regulatory compliance and long-term operational efficiency.
Luceco specified a wide-ranging selection of high-performance LED luminaires and control products, including:
- LuxPanel Extra – Luceco’s flagship backlit LED panel, delivering balanced, energy-efficient illumination across key areas of the building.
- Contour Oval – a suspended oval continuous linear fitting, specified for the board rooms and meeting rooms where architectural elegance was a priority.
- Tempus Decorative Exit Blade – a stylish emergency exit sign connected to the Platform emergency monitoring system for real-time fault-finding and maintenance.
- Tempus Extra Recess Downlight – an emergency downlight, ensuring compliant and reliable emergency illumination.
- Climate Extra – a robust IK10-rated LED noncorrosive fitting, specified for the demanding laboratory and utility environments.
- Platform Controls – a full suite of PIR sensors together with kinetic scene-set switches, all supplied in white and black finishes.
