On June 15, IDEAL Electrical brought together local electricians and industry volunteers to complete necessary electrical updates to Habitat for Humanity’s Romford ReStore, a home improvement charity shop and community hub that provides vulnerable people, including women and families at risk of homelessness or housing poverty, a welcoming space to access advice, practical help and opportunities to learn new skills or volunteer.
With more than 130,000 families in the United Kingdom without permanent housing, IDEAL is trying to make a difference. As a brand serving the construction industry, the company leveraged its electrician network and skills to be part of the solution.
During the one-day service event, volunteers put their electrical expertise to use, installing hot water heaters, pendant lights, two-way switching stair lighting, replacing hand dryers and relocating lighting displays. These significant electrical upgrades to the first ReStore in Great Britain will create a positive impact across the community. With only 2% of social housing in the UK currently being furnished, the ReStore plays a pivotal role in providing affordable furniture and household goods to create a sustainable local community.
This activation is part of a three-year partnership IDEAL Electrical is executing with Habitat for Humanity. Their commitment to a multi-year partnership and support on build sites reflects a shared belief that creating stronger communities requires relationships and a personal investment in the change.
