Flexicon FPAS selected by Manhattan Loft Gardens

The exclusive city skyscraper, situated on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, is benefitting from Flexicon’s FPAS20 & FPAS25 conduit systems to protect essential cabling across the skyscraper’s hotel rooms and loft apartments.

Installed by electrical contractors, ENGIE INEO UK, the nylon (PA6) corrugated flexible conduit offered an ideal solution for protecting the building’s entire electrical cabling.

Flexicon has worked with ENGIE INEO on numerous projects and has always recommended its FPAS range, due to its quick and convenient install and excellent fire safety properties.

The FPAS conduit system offers superior fatigue life, with high impact strength and crush resistance.  Of particular benefit to this project, which required significant lengths of cabling to be installed in the cavity walls, was the flexible nature of the conduit as opposed to a rigid system. This enabled the electricians to navigate easily around any obstructions in the wall and conduit ends could also be left exposed for the contractor to complete the works and then wired and fixed afterwards.

In addition, any design changes were easily accommodated during the build, as the conduit design makes it easy to move and reposition.

As with any building that houses both private residents and the public, safety is paramount and any conduit supplied had to meet specific fire safety requirements. The FPAS system is a low fire hazard solution, with excellent fire resistance to UL94 V2 and can operate across a wide temperature range, up to 120°C. It also releases no toxic fumes in the event of a fire and is halogen free with low-smoke properties.

Flexicon Flexilok glands and couplings were also specified to provide a fast and efficient means of installation.  The one-piece, slim, fast fit, external-threaded fittings offered an ideal solution and are suitable for knockouts or threaded entries.

On a project of this size and scale, product availability and ease of installation were paramount to ensure the job was completed without delay. Flexicon’s FPAS conduit provided reliable, dependable results meaning that BEW had no hesitation is recommending the product for this application.
