Welcome to the February issue of EW!
EV charging has been a topic of much discussion in recent months, with focus on the Government’s plans to increase the number of public charging points to at least 300,000 by 2030. Current provision is woefully inadequate, and so-called ‘range anxiety’, which is the concern that you won’t be able to make it to your destination on the charge and charging points available, is actively hampering many from adopting EV vehicles.
A number of our features this month have a focus on green energy and green technologies. On page 16, Spelsberg UK’s managing director (and keen cyclist) Chris Lloyd takes a look at the rapid increase in the popularity of e-bikes, Government support for their uptake, and the future of charging point infrastructure.
On page 25, meanwhile, David Cowburn, chief operating officer at NAPIT, comments on the impact of consumer confidence on growth in the energy efficiency and low carbon sectors in light of the recent results of Chris Skidmore MP’s Independent Review of Net Zero.
Alfie Rowe managing director at Armorduct Systems, shares his insights on the importance of the manufacturer/wholesaler relationship for the delivery of cable management solutions in the current climate.
Plus, as always, our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector, including an update on the latest policy updates on CE vs. UKCA markings (26), and an advice column from the EIC on debt management in the current cost of living crisis (30).
