Smart devices, and smart lighting in particular, are a focus in this issue of EW. The smart lighting market is worth $19.65bn globally, and is expected to more than double in size by 2029.
On page 24, Ansell Lightingโs Chris Anderson, talks about the impressive benefits of smart lighting for homeowners in terms of convenience and customisation, and discusses how best to incorporate it into wholesale product offerings.
On page 22, meanwhile, Richard Wharrad of Tamlite Lighting highlights the importance of smart lighting for improving sustainability in office environments. He welcomes The British Council for Offices (BCO)โs new research agenda, which sets out a vision for the office as a sustainable part of the built environment
Smart devices present electrical wholesalers with an excellent opportunity to boost sales and revenue – but they are not without their limitations. From 29 April, for example, new UK law means that all smart devices must meet basic cyber security requirements – more on this in the June issue.
Elsewhere in the issue, I spoke to the EDAโs head of digitalisation, Richard Appleton, about the latest developments of EDATA, including its new link with Agathos Chalice ERP system. He expects EDATA will reach 300,000 SKUs this year, so watch this space! Read more on page 30.
Plus, as always, we share our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector, including a look at DCW Construction Week 2024 (25) and this yearโs Light + Building (20).
