Welcome to the May 2026 issue of Electrical Wholesaler!
In late March, the government announced the latest update to the Future Homes Standard, set to take effect in the UK from 2025. The FHS aims to future-proof new homes, reduce energy bills and support the UKโs 2050 net-zero target by mandating high-performance insulation, solar panels and low-carbon heating systems like heat pumps. The response from the electrical sector has been largely positive, although there are concerns around electrical safety and realistic ongoing support from the government. Turn to page 10 to find out more.
On the topic of low-carbon heating, the possibilities of electric heating are widely misunderstood, and educating consumers is a job for the whole industry. On page 28, Dimplex UKโs Yulia Gillingham explains how wholesalers and installers have an important role to play in challenging outdated perceptions.
Elsewhere in the issue, Darren Binns of Jefferson Tools takes a deep dive on the strategic potential of warranties. โOnce a secondary concern, they have evolved into a central pillar in fostering customer trust and loyalty,โ he says. Read more on page 24.
Fulham-based wholesaler Electrical4Less, meanwhile, shares the companyโs experience of taking on two EDA apprentices – find out how it went on page 27.
Plus, as always, we share our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector, including our usual update from the Electrical Industries Charity (page 17).
Enjoy the issue!
