National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place every year in February, provides a fantastic opportunity to highlight the positive impact that apprenticeship qualifications have on local communities, employers and the industries they operate in.
To meet the changing needs of our buildings in this new landscape of net zero targets and energy efficiency, we will need a skilled, driven and diverse workforce. Apprenticeships, which give people ways to change career paths as well as supporting those at the start of their careers, are a key part of achieving this.
This month, it was great to hear from leading apprenticeship provider JTL, who shared some insight from two of its former apprentices. On page 26, you can read details of their roles as newly-qualified electricians, offering an insight into the wide variety of career path opportunities that an apprenticeship qualification can provide.
Elsewhere in the issue, Aico’s Sam Collier takes on the topic of Home Automation, exploring the use of IoT sensors to improve tenants’ health and wellbeing in social housing (page 28).
On page 23, meanwhile, Sangamo’s Matt Parton answers some key questions relating to smart heating controls and energy saving measures.
Plus, as always, we share our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector, including a great piece from Vent-Axia’s Natasha King on the trends that are driving ventilation sales for electrical wholesalers in 2024 (page 30).
Enjoy the issue!
