EW March issue – A bright future

The March issue of Electrical Wholesaler is out now!

The UK electrical accessories market has returned to growth more quickly than expected after the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, seeing an estimated 8% growth in 2021, according to a recent report from AMA Research. This is encouraging news as we near the end of Q1 2022, and hopefully marks the beginning of the end of the economic ill-effects of the pandemic for our sector. Growth last year was limited by supply chain disruption and material shortages, but the continued growth in construction output – not to mention increasing demand for EV charging units, home automation systems and energy efficient retrofits – makes for a positive outlook. Spring is on its way, and the future looks bright for the electrical market.

On the topic of electrical accessories, our cover story this month is from Selectric UK, showcasing some luxury installations for its first screwless plate design, the 5M-PLUS range. Turn to page 10 to take a look.

On page 28, meanwhile, ESP’s Katie Plumstead shares her insights into how installing smart controls can reduce the impact of huge hikes in energy bills as a result of the recently announced price cap.

As supply issues continue to impact the industry across the globe, Paul Dawson, commercial director at Niglon, shares his thoughts on stock control and management in an uncertain market – read more on page 30.

Finally, as always, this issue includes our regular news, views, product and installation features from market-leading businesses across the sector.
