Welcome to the December issue of EW, and our final issue of 2025.
Recent data from BEAMA showed a boost in optimism across the electrical sector, driven by the prospect of trade deals and the governmentโs ongoing commitment to decarbonisation and economic growth. This renewed industrial optimism marks a dramatic turnaround from Q1 2025, when sales were strong, but optimism was low.
That said, despite the positive growth outlook, the shortage of skilled labour has a knock on effects for the whole electrical industry, and any pressure inevitably impacts smaller businesses most. Its tough out there for independent wholesalers, and it takes hard graft, flexibility and dedication to stick it out and support your customers in a marketplace that isnโt always kind to SMEs.
Thatโs why it is particularly welcome when we receive positive news from independent electrical wholesalers. In our news pages this month, you can read about Electrical4Less, an independent electrical supplier based in Fulham, London, who has been shortlisted as a finalist for โWebsite of the Yearโ at the LCCI SME London Business Awards 2026. You can also read about how three Wiltshire-based entrepreneurs have each taken a third share of Swindon electrical wholesale store A&E Electrical Wholesalers and rebranded it as โNew Edition Electrical Suppliesโ – a new direction with a focus on customer service, smart stock choices and flexibility.
We love sharing your success stories – please do send in any and all news and updates to me at bandrews@datateam.co.uk!
On behalf of the EW team, Iโd like to wish all our readers the very best for a happy and profitable 2026 – see you on the other side!
