C.E.D. makes £multi-million investment in warehouse facility to improve customer service

C.E.D., a supplier to the electrical wholesale trade, has made a £multi-million investment in a new, custom built, bulk warehouse by the Thames in Rainham, Essex, just 15 minutes away from the existing warehouse and head office in Dagenham. The new building incorporates the family firm’s Meridian lighting and energy saving solutions throughout.

This new facility adds a further 30,000 sq ft of floor space, but as it is a 15m high, narrow aisle building, it actually doubles capacity with a further 5,000 pallet spaces. It is expected to be fully operational by the end of July 2015 and will significantly improve deliveries to C.E.D.’s extensive and exclusive distribution channel of electrical wholesalers.

Last year, C.E.D. celebrated 20 years of service to the electrical wholesale market and during that time, there have been several major milestones with the Company originally operating from a 3,000 sq ft warehouse in Barking. By 1997, as sales volumes and breadth of range grew, this facility was doubled in size to 6,000 sq ft. Then in 2003, having established themselves as a major player in the UK Market, the company moved to their current site in Dagenham, taking on a 50,000 sq ft facility.

The new bulk warehouse will significantly improve day to day service with next day availability of product.
