When an inspection declared the emergency lighting and fire alarm systems to be unsatisfactory, the Potton Woodentops Preschool was given just 14 days to turn around the situation or face having their license suspended.
The Club House on The Hollow, Biggleswade Road, is home to Potton United FC during the evenings and weekends, but during the week, provides a much needed facility for Potton Woodentops Preschool, which caters for children from two years to school age.
With the emergency lighting and fire alarm systems deemed to be unsatisfactory, there was a threat of losing this vital community resource on which so many families rely.
But Darren Staniforth, Technical Development Manager at NICEIC and Potton United FCโs General Manager in his spare time, decided to put his knowledge and contacts to good use.
Having approached security, fire protection and emergency lighting experts, ESP, he was able to acquire all the products needed to update the fire alarm and emergency lighting provision.
Products from ESPโs MAGfire fire protection range were fitted, including a new 2-Zone Conventional Fire Alarm Kit, smoke and heat detectors, alarm
call point and sounder. From the Duceri Emergency Lighting collection, a new emergency bulkhead and downlight, as well as an LED emergency exit
sign were installed.
The result was a resounding pass from the inspectors and a guarantee for the preschool children and families of a safe environment for many years to come.
Comments Darren: โESP really pulled out all the stops to provide the products we needed in a short space of time. It was great to be able to get hold of everything from one source and have the assurance of good quality and ease of installation that comes with the ESP range. This enabled us to turn the project around very quickly to meet the tight deadline.โ
